No Man Left Behind Monument

Dear Paul,

Hope For The Warriors® is proud to announce our gift of a new monument, titled No Man Left Behind, to the Marine Corps aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The monument brings to life the iconic photo captured in Fallujah by acclaimed combat photographer Lucian Read. As battle raged, then 1stSgt Bradley Kasal, USMC, risked his life for the lives of his Marines. In turn, two of his Marines, Lance Corporals Chris Marquez and Dan Shaffer, risked their lives to carry him out of the building called Hell House.

Hope For The Warriors® commissioned the monument to honor those wounded in the line of duty and those who never returned home. No Man Left Behind represents the ultimate price of battle, the spirit of brotherhood, and the dedication given by service members and their families.

The monument was created by John Phelps, artist, Vietnam veteran and Gold Star Father. John’s son, LCpl Chance Phelps, USMC, was killed in action in April 2004. The HBO® movie, Taking Chance, chronicled the journey of the Marine escort who brought LCpl Phelps home.

This monument is a reminder of our commitment to restore self, family, and hope to all who utilize the Warrior Hope and Care Center. You too can share in our commitment. Donate today.

Sincerely,
Robin Kelleher
